Yes! Although group tutoring involves multiple students, I ensure that each student’s needs are addressed. At the beginning of each session, I gather individual student goals to ensure that I can do my best to help them achieve those goals. I balance group work with individual check-ins during the session and provide personalized feedback outside of group time. If a goal isn’t fully met during the session, I will follow up afterward to ensure progress. This approach helps students benefit from both collaborative learning and focused, individualized support.
Before sessions begin, students assess themselves for suitability to join the group. If a student needs extra practice on topics covered in the group, I provide additional practice questions with answer keys. However, if a student is really struggling due to a lack of prerequisite knowledge for the course, I recommend individual sessions focused on catching up on foundational skills. In such cases, I will notify the parent to discuss the situation and recommend the best course of action to ensure the student’s succe
Groups are ideal for students taking the same course who are ready for the material but may struggle with certain aspects of it. I also accommodate situations like siblings of different ages who want to take their lessons at the same time, provided they can work independently. While these students won’t have the benefit of learning from each other, this option is available for parents who prioritize cost savings. Additionally, students are welcome to form their own groups with peers who are on a similar learning path. My goal is to create a supportive environment tailored to the needs and circumstances of each student.
I expect students to actively participate, come prepared with their goals, and engage with their peers during sessions. Collaboration and preparation are key to a productive group learning experience. I also encourage students to complete any assigned tasks or practice problems between sessions to reinforce what they’ve learned.
I incorporate a variety of teaching methods to address different learning styles, including visual aids, discussions, and problem-solving exercises. I make an effort to work with each individual student to understand what works best for them, ensuring that all students are engaged and learning in a way that suits their unique needs.
I understand that things come up, and while I’m unable to offer refunds or reschedules for missed group classes, I strive to ensure they don’t fall behind. The student will still have access to the live session notes and any questions we worked on. They are still expected to update their page on the Explain Everything whiteboard, upload the questions they need help with, and ask specific questions about what they didn’t understand. I will write down my responses so the student can review these notes after the lesson. My goal is to keep students on track even if they have to miss a class.
Our group tutoring sessions are an affordable option for high-quality instruction, with detailed pricing available on my pricing page. Groups commit to a weekly time on a month-by-month basis until the course ends. If a group member decides not to continue for the next month, a 15-day written notice is required. If a 4-member group turns into a 2-member group, the price is adjusted accordingly.
Additionally, if another student joins your group, both students and parents will be notified, and any extra payment can count as a credit towards the next month. While scheduling flexibility is limited due to the group format, I work closely with each group to find a suitable time. Changing session times requires agreement from all group members and may involve swapping with another student or group.
