My name is Clara. I am a math, chemistry, and physics tutor with 11 years of classroom teaching and tutoring experience. After three years teaching math and science/chemistry in international schools in China, I returned to Vancouver and landed in full-time tutoring. Since September 2015, I have taught over 100 students from grade 8 to adults with various learning situations. Whether they are students who need a push to pass a course, students who want to do their best to keep their post-secondary choices open, or students who are looking to excel in math/science, I can help.
I maintain a very individualized approach in my teaching and believe that no single method works for everyone. After getting an overview of the student’s goals and current learning situation, a lesson is arranged and the teacher-student fit is assessed. If all is well, I begin the process of getting to know the student and learn what strategies and communication style work. Depending on the learner, progress can be evident from between the first lesson to half a year. I definitely notice a tremendous difference when I look at some students who have been studying with me 2+ years, and some of their stories can be found on my testimonials page.
Aside from teaching, I enjoy photography, traveling, and discovering culinary delights.
